Refrigerated Container Features

The features that set refrigerator units (also known as reefer containers or simply reefer) apart from all the other options have everything to do with refined engineering designed to ensure stable and insulated temperature mode inside the unit. Here are a few ways this is achieved:

• State-of-Art Insulation: Refrigerated containers are always constructed with a thick insulation layer on the inside to prevent external temperature from affecting the interior environment. It is usually achieved by covering polyurethane foal between steel plates, providing multi-level isolation.
• Air Circulation: Like regular refrigerators, containers employ active air circulation as a cooling mechanism. In addition to that, this is a reliable way to distribute the temperature inside the shipping unit evenly, ensuring that all the items inside are cooled or heated appropriately.
• Sophisticated Electronics: Of course, excellent refrigeration is not only about the materials and construction; it also must come with special electronics to keep it cool anywhere and at any time:
• Refrigeration Unit: Each reefer is equipped with a refrigeration unit on the exterior. This is precisely the part responsible for cooling or heating the interior space.
• Control Panel: Outside of the unit, there is also a control panel that can be used for setting, monitoring, and maintaining temperatures inside without any need to open it.
• Power Source: Refrigeration units and, to a lesser extent, control panels require power to operate, so to ensure smooth and seamless work of refrigerated units, most of them come with a self-contained power source that is irreplaceable when electrical grids or generators are not available.

Types of Reefer Containers

• Standard 20’ & 40’ and High Cube 40’ Containers: These types combine all of the elements mentioned above and features, making them an ideal choice for storing and transporting practically any perishable goods. Depending on the amount of room you need, you can pick a 20’ or 40’ option, both of which are excellent and perform exceptionally well. A well-equipped and installed reefer can go as low as -13 or even -31 degrees!
• Insulated Non-Working Refrigerated Containers: If your goods are not as easily perishable or you don’t need to ship them long-distance in a hot climate, an insulated reefer without electronics might be the perfect choice. A cheaper choice, it still offers the dimensions of a Standard 40’ unit while costing less than a 20’ option. It is crucial to mention that this type doesn’t go lower than 62 degrees, so consider this factor when picking the products to fill it with.
• Accessories (Generators and Chassis): An essential part of refrigerator units is their electronics, which need power to operate. That is why we also offer generators for rent to keep your refrigerating unit working smoothly and continuously. In addition to that, you might need a specialized chassis, which would immensely facilitate the loading and transportation of the cargo.
